Iraq Makes no Purchase in 50,000 ton Wheat Tender
Oct 9th 2012, 13:54

The Iraqi Ministry for Trade has made no purchase in a tender for at least 50,000 tonnes of wheat, according to a report from Reuters.

The tender for wheat of any origin had closed on 1st October, with offers having to stay valid until 5th October.

A source at the trade ministry gave no reason for the decision not to purchase; Iraq, one of the world’s largest importers of wheat, frequently buys more than the tender volumes.

The lowest prices offered to Iraq in the latest tender were for Romanian wheat at $399.50 a tonne c&f free out (ciffo), followed by prices of $406, $408.50 and $417 a tonne ciffo for a combination of Ukrainian, Brazilian and Argentine wheat.
