The Iraqi Ministry of Planning has reportedly signed a technical contract with a German company to inspect imports into Iraq.

The Ministry said that the aim of the contract is “to limit the importation of bad goods or expired commodities and foodstuffs“.

According to a report from Aswat al-Iraq, the contract was signed with the “TUV” company, but this could be any of four German regional standards agencies.

The company will train 30 Iraqis abroad “on it is account”, and will deposit 5 million dollars for good implementation of the contract.

Last week, Iraq signed a similar contract with Danish company and expected to have another one with a Swedish one, in addition to the French BV [Bureau Veritas].
