The Managing Director of Romania’s Rompetrol has said that the company is interested in exploring in Iraq.
Gavit Kurkimov (pictured) said:
“We have just visited Iraq. The main purpose of our visit was to gather information on the possibilities of drilling there … we do not carry out any activities in Iraq, but have opened an office in Baghdad.“
He added that the company is considering to drilling in the west of Iraq:
“We have not decided if we are going to work in the west or the north of Iraq. We need to analyze the information collected during the trip, and then develop a business project.“
Rompetrol Group is owned by the Kazakh state oil company KazMunaiGas.
