Nassiriya suffers from the lack of family entertainment places, which force most of them to go to other provinces, mainly during eids and other holidays.
Analysts and activists accuse the government of disregarding violation of “green zones” in Iraq.
The Iraqi Housing Director, Bassam al-Jaberi, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency:
“Nine years after the topple of the former regime, Nassiriya, 365 km south of Baghdad, and other neighboring provinces, still suffer from ignorance, while Amara city remains in a concrete chaos.
“The natural green zones around the city came under fierce attacks by those aims at turning them into new slums amid complicity from officials, who are ready to do anything to win the local elections.
“The city of Nassiriya, where one million people live, has only one entertainment center and one park, opened in 1960s.“
