Jan 29th 2012, 18:26

The Ledcor company has won the contract to build an international airport in the Mansuriya area of Diyala, according to AKnews.

Mujawwal Tayee, head of the Diyala Investment Commission, told the news agency that Ledcor obtained the approval of the commission following months of negotiations and the agreement of the National Investment Commission (NIC) and the Ministry of Transportation.

While Diyala has a reputation for insurgency, Mansuriya administrator Ragheb Zeydan said the firm will be protected in the town.

Although referred  to throughout the report as an American company, Iraq Business News understands that the company in question  has its headquarters in Vancouver, Canada.

The company is privately held and 100 per cent employee owned.
