Iraq’s Commission on Integrity reports that Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and two of his three deputy prime ministers have prestented their financial disclosure statements to the Commission.
The commission reports that Rowsh N Shaways and Hussain al-Sharistani are the two deputy PMs who have submitted their documents, implying that Salih al-Mutlaq has still to comply with the disclosure requirements.
High ranking officials must present their financial disclosure to the commission, and any “excess inconsistent with their income will be considered illicit enrichment and the official shall prove its source”.
President Jalal Talabani has also submitted the required documents, but his deputies Tariq al-Hashimi and Khudayr al-Khuzai have yet to do so.
Only 23% of of the parliament have complied with the disclosure requirements.
